The difference between Climate and Weather\u00a0is time. Climate<\/strong> is how the atmosphere behaves over long periods of time and is therefore more constant.\u00a0Weather <\/strong>on the other hand refers to\u00a0the conditions of the atmosphere over short periods.\u00a0So while Dominica’s climate is Tropical<\/strong>, our weather\u00a0varies depending on the\u00a0time of year (season), the hour, day or where you are in the island.<\/p>\n

More\u00a0about\u00a0Dominica’s seasonal weather<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Dominica’s terrain <\/a>and topographic features<\/a> are responsible for much of its diverse micro climates<\/strong> and resulting vegetation, and this comes as no surprise on an island with the highest concentration of volcanoes<\/a> in the world. There are noticeable\u00a0differences in the vegetation between the east and west coasts, and a drive across the island\u00a0reveals these variations in our forest types and micro climates. Even from valley to valley\u00a0you\u00a0may experience sun and then rain and then sun again!<\/p>\n

A trip to Morne Trois Pitons National Park<\/a> takes you up into the Rainforest and\u00a0Montane forests.\u00a0Hiking<\/a>\u00a0up the taller mountains exposes you to the dense windswept Elfin forests which are a sight to behold.<\/p>\n

Not only does climate affect our vegetation, it also influences how we live, and this is most apparent in our\u00a0Traditional Architecture<\/a>, Agriculture\u00a0&\u00a0Culture. Our weather is rarely dull and in Dominica, there’s always something to do.<\/a><\/p>\n

    Dominica’s average daily temperatures range from about 75\u00b0F (24\u00b0C)\u00a0to 85\u00b0F (29\u00b0C). Annual rainfall in Dominica varies considerably, from 50 inches along the coast, to over 300 inches in the interior. Traditionally, there has been a dry season between February\u00a0and June, with the wettest months being August to October. The peak of hurricane season is in late August\/early September. Expect cooler nights in the higher elevations… and light showers at any time!<\/p>\n

    However in recent years, this distinction between the wet and dry season has been less clear as a result of climate change.<\/p>\n

    \nThe east and west coasts of the island have many differences, including peak temperatures.\u00a0June<\/strong> tends to be the hottest time of year on the west coast, while on the east coast\u00a0its during\u00a0August\/ September<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
